Located on the picturesque Esplanade in Porthcawl, Piccolo Bar is a quaint cafe that captures the essence of seaside charm. Patrons rave about its welcoming atmosphere and stunning views over the Bristol Channel. While the food menu may be modest, it is the delightful desserts that truly shine. Visitors like David Cross and Bob P are particularly taken with the Belgian Nutella waffles and ice cream, describing them as must-tries. The menu features an array of sandwiches and baguettes, ideal for a light lunch. However, it’s the cakes, such as the Chocolate Ripple Ice Cream and tea cake, that create memorable moments for guests like Jason Parker. Diners can enjoy both indoor and outdoor seating, where they can savor their meals while watching waves crash on the beach. As Emyr Foxhall notes, it’s a lovely spot for a cuppa and nibbles. Thank you for table delivery even though we were outside in winter. The belguim nutella waffles and cremes were lovely. Thank you.
Very busy Cafe on the Promenade. Not a big choice of food but desserts and cakes a plenty. We had the tea cake which was a little small bit ok. The Chocolate Ripple Ice Cream was lush
The best toast sandwich ever, lively hot coffee and amazing views. The staff were warm and welcoming. We'll definitely be back.
The Belgian Waffle with ice-cream is a very enjoyable sweet, and worth trying. The Piccolo Bar serves a wide range of sandwiches and baggettes, with a variety of ices. You can sit outside and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere watching the waves crashing onto the beach, below.
A lovely place on the sea front for a cuppa and lovely nibbles. Indoor and outdoor seating available with amazing views over the Bristol Channel to Somerset and North Devon. Great atmosphere inside and great service. Been many times and will keep going there.
Recommend this cafe it serves the best flat white coffee in the area and the nicest biggest freshest cakes! Lots of seating both inside and out with great views of the sea. Not far from the town of Porthcawl. This cafe is doing it's best with the restrictions in place by selling coffee and ice cream etc from its side window if you are not wearing a mask. You are allowed inside just to purchase not sit if you are wearing a mask. I would still highly recommend this establishment!
Treated to a coffee and a Danish by a friend in return for a lift to Porthcawl for a dip in the sea. Well rounded coffee taste and my flat white was perfectly poured. We shared a Danish which was warmed ready for us. Would recommend, looks like a great spot for inclement weather watching too with huge windows.
First time visiting here, we strawberry ripple 99 amd chocolate one. it was the best ice cream I’ve tasted in a while, creamy, rich with no bits The place is very clean, staff polite, reasonable prices for the amount you get and very quick from order to table Highly recommend!
